Bow of Thillois

France is the country of beauty. A good example of this is the "Thillois Bow". This is a 60 meter long and 450 ton bridge. Near Reims, in the world-famous Champagne region, a new, fantastically designed landmark was created.

The French even make paying the toll a visually appealing process. The bridge structure erected there over the heads of the employees and drivers was equipped with an X-TEND stainless steel cable network by those responsible. Not only that there is such a high level of security. In addition, many woven-in metal plates give the impression of sparkling champagne bubbles.

Impressive toll bridge northeast of Paris

If you want to move quickly from A to B on French motorways, you have to dig into your pocket and pay toll. Part of this money goes to maintenance and new construction. The Bow-String de Thillois was built above the toll station near Reims, around 130 kilometers from the capital Paris. The special thing about the streak bow are the two ten meter high arches. So that nobody falls onto the road there and also as a measure against object throwing, 950 m² of the X-TEND stainless steel cable network from CARL STAHL ARCHITECTURE were stretched there.

The planners came up with a special feature. Since real champagne only comes from this special region, sequins have been incorporated into the X-TEND champagne. The sequins create the impression of sparkling champagne for the motorists who drive towards it. Intermediate and edge ropes from the I-SYS range were used to fix the net. This ensures that the bracing is also protected against high wind loads.

champagne, expensive fun

Reims is next to Épernay the most important center for the production of champagne. The noble and sparkling drops produced here are stored in cellar vaults, which were driven into the limestone cliffs of the region in the Roman times.

Only sparkling wine that is produced here can be called champagne. The most expensive of these drinks cost more than many cars per bottle.

Well known, exquisite and expensive are ...

  • the Juglar Cuvée (€ 24,000),
  • the 1841 Veuve Clicquot (€ 30,000),
  • the PernodRichard Perrier-Jouet (€ 35,000),
  • the Dom Pérignon Rosé Gold (€ 41,159),
  • the 1907 Heidsieck (€ 200,000) and
  • the Gout de Diamant Brut Diamond Champagne (€ 1.5 million) .
